How to takedown your release
There might be a situation where you have to takedown your music from all platforms. You can actually trigger this yourself from your Make Waves account (so much power). In this guide we'll show you how to do this. Please note this action will have consequences; your product will disappear everywhere and streams and saves will be lost. So only proceed with this if this is indeed your intention.
For your releases that are live via Make Waves, you can trigger a takedown in your Make Waves account. This means you can action for the releases to disappear from all the stores they were initially delivered to yourself, and the release will also be deleted from your catalogue.
Please note that this action should only be actioned if the content indeed needs to be taken down and deleted.
- If you're migrating your releases to another distributor, only trigger takedowns when your music has been redelivered to stores via the new distribution service and streams have merged on Spotify.
- If you've delivered a release and spotted a mistake in the release, maybe the wrong artwork or audio file had been delivered, don't trigger a takedown. You can update the original release and send an update to all stores to reflect these changes. More information on this can be found here.
When you're in your Make Waves account and you have gone into one of your releases, you can click on the three dots in the top right corner:
After which you will see an option called 'Takedown':
If you click on the 'Takedown' option, a pop-up will appear to confirm if you wish to proceed with this action.
If you then click on 'Delete', the album will be deleted from your Make Waves catalogue and we will send an update to all stores to remove the content from their platform. Please note it can take up to 5 days for this to be processed by all stores and for the content to be fully gone everywhere.
If you're not sure whether you should trigger a takedown, feel free to reach out to support@makewaves.fm.
